Also appears as "Excello Records". Blues division of Nashboro/Nashboro Records. Founded by Ernie Young in 1952 in Nashville TN. Best-known artist was Slim Harpo ("Scratch My Back"). Sold in the end to AVI Records. For all unofficial / bootleg copies of this label please use Excello (3) Southern entrepreneur Ernie Young was the founder of the Excello label, which has attained almost legendary status among blues and R&B fans. Young's labels were off-shoots of Ernie's Record Mart, a Nashville- based shop and mail order operation launched in 1950, when Young had already reached the advanced age of 57, after a career as a real estate businessman.
